Intro

I like to consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to technology but I am by no means an expert. As I am setting up my PLE (Personal Learning Environment), having never set up a website or posting a blog before, I had to do a little research before I jumped in.

I began by researching different sites to use and “playing” with the features to gain a better understanding of how it all works. I have come to the conclusion that creating a PLE will be beneficial both personally and professionally. Personally I will become a more reflective learner while I am completing my master’s program. Professionally I will have the opportunity to collaborate with many others with the use of technology.

I also had to reflect on my online identity all while observing and analyzing others as well. I have come to the realization that I am fairly quiet and have a more personal online identity. I would like to have a greater impact on others in a more professional capacity. During my observations I have witnessed other professionals post articles to share as well as writing informative posts. I have observed posts through many different platforms as they are used for various reasons, some personal and others professional.

Through this process in beginning my PLE I am realizing that what I write, share, and comment may impact others. Zwilling states, “The internet sees the good, the bad and the ugly” (2015, para. 8).  I am hopeful that I will have a positive effect on others, engage others in healthy discussions, and my intention is to collaborate with others in a professional manner.
